The Community of Hope
is a non-profit organization made up of people of faith determined to help make a difference and reduce homelessness in our community. Established in March 2023, this dedicated group of individuals come from various churches in the Cloquet, Esko, and Carlton area with hearts that show and share the love that Jesus stated as part of the greater commandment to love our neighbor.
Our goal is to help provide those in need with basic necessities, a temporary warm, safe place to stay and provide resources and programs to further their ability to become self-sufficient.
If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? James 2:16 NIV
Our Core Values
- Dignity & Respect
We recognize the immense courage it takes to ask for help. We treat every guest with profound respect, actively listening to your lived experiences and walking alongside you with deep care, understanding, and empathy. - Equity & Justice
True equity means recognizing that everyone faces different barriers. We intentionally dedicate our hotel vouchers, weekly meals, and clothing supplies to supporting the neighbors in our community who face the hardest economic, health, and social challenges. - Authentic Inclusion
We build spaces where guests, volunteers, and staff feel completely safe to bring their authentic selves. We believe our unique backgrounds and differences are our community's greatest strengths. - Low-Barrier Accessibility
We believe help should be easy to reach. By partnering with local faith communities, we host our weekly meals in welcoming, easily accessible spaces that are geographically spread out to meet you right where you are.
No one plans to be homeless.
Every person experiencing homelessness is someone’s daughter, someone’s brother, someone’s friend.
There is no single cause for homelessness—everyone’s story matters.
